Licensed Clinicians
In my time practicing as a therapist I’ve found a common theme among my clients. I’ve found that some of the most basic human needs: to feel safe, secure & loved are critical to our health. And when these needs are not met, whether in childhood or into adulthood, due to trauma or other circumstances, our mental, emotional, and physical health suffers as a result. I don’t ask the question, “what’s wrong with you?” I ask my clients “what happened to you?” Everyone has a story & everyone gets hit with life and I believe we are all trying to do the best job we can. Life is not always easy and I believe we need support to maneuver through all the twists, turns, and curve balls that life throws our way.
As a therapist, I utilize a motivational strength-based approach to allow clients to utilize their skills, gifts & talents to make the positive changes they desire in their lives. I have worked with young children, teens & also adult clients. I’ve worked in a range of settings from school-based therapy to psychiatric hospitalization to working in a residential inpatient treatment facility. I have a special passion for working with military veterans. I have had experience in providing treatment for a range of mental health disorders including substance abuse disorders, trauma-related disorders & abuse, PTSD, anxiety, depression, adjustment disorders, ADHD, self-esteem issues, Bipolar disorder & personality disorders to name some.
I believe “you can’t work through anything without talking about it.” I act as a mirror and a compass for my clients and try to provide them with insight, empathy, unconditional positive regard, support, tools & guidance. I do this to help them get back on track so that their needs are fulfilled, they are content & find a sense of peace, & they find the health & happiness they are looking for. This way they can move forward on their path & achieve their goals & live the life they’ve always dreamed of. I see it as an honor & a privilege that clients will share their story with me, have the courage to open up, and take a chance on allowing me to help them to help themselves. Thank you in advance for affording me this opportunity!

Is your mind at peace? Has stress led to emotional and physical consequences that have become unbearable? Maybe you "manage" your stress with addictive substances or behaviors. Or maybe a family member has an addiction that's turning your world upside down and you have no idea what to do. Stress is not a fact of life you have to accept. Neither are addictions. Using a mindful, compassionate and nonjudgmental approach I can help you learn how to gain a fresh perspective on the stressors in your life. Working together, not to "get by", but to thrive.
I have two specialities. 1) Helping family members who are devastated by addiction, as well assessment and treatment of a person using/smoking. 2) I enjoy helping people overcome stress, anxiety, depression and chronic pain from a holistic perspective. I engage the entire you by bringing all of me - my compassion, experience, wisdom and humor.
Family members in addiction require specific skills to move their loved one into treatment. You don't have to wait until your loved one hits "bottom" or use “detached love.” I’ll empower with you with evidence-based skills to help smooth the rollercoaster of addiction. I’ll work with you in establishing self-care, a vital piece that’s too often ignored.
I have been helping people all of my professional life. Working as a Licensed Independent Chemical Dependency Counselor - Certified Supervisor, and a Certified Life Coach.
It doesn’t matter if you’ve been struggling for a short time, a few years, or let’s be honest — maybe several decades. You can change. I know, I’ve been there too. I want to help. It’s my passion. Guiding people through transformations is what gets my juices flowing each and every day.

Initially, I was somewhat hesitant to provide online counseling due to the lack of face to face contact. I feared that I would not be able to connect with clients as I would like. However, having previously worked in a very rural area for quite some time, I became aware that some people simply do not have adequate access to therapy. Some clients are concerned about confidentiality, worried that someone might see their car parked outside my office. Obviously online therapy eliminates that concern. Face to face counseling and online counseling both have their advantages. I am pleased to be able to provide both.
I am passionate about my profession and believe that most everyone may need some help along the way. Unfortunately, addiction can be disabling to even the strongest of persons. I like to think of myself as a very caring and understanding person, and a person of openness, honesty, and integrity. It is my belief that most people can benefit from talking with someone who understands. I consider it my job to understand my client, to bring clarity to the situation, and to help develop a workable and practical plan of action.
I have over 20 years of experience teaching psychology at three universities in the Cincinnati area. In addition to academics, I have 30+ years of experience in working in the chemical dependency and mental health field. I have served in a variety of positions, from agency clinical director to private practice. I have worked with individuals from all ends of the socioeconomic spectrum (from the indigent population to those with advanced education and high income). Currently I hold the highest chemical dependency treatment licensure awarded by the state of Ohio. In addition to providing therapy, I have developed and conducted professional trainings to counselors, social workers, and psychologists throughout the Midwest.
